Sometimes in the wrestling industry, a persona is created that is completely different from the wrestler’s real personality. This was the case with Paul Levesque, who went by the stage name Triple H. He got his start in 1995 after perfecting his physique as a bodybuilder and wrestling prodigy. Today, he is one of the leaders of the new, modern WWE. To some, it is hard to see his transformation from a burly wrestler to a well-respected executive.
Paul Levesque Starts His Wrestling Career:
Triple H had a fairly uneventful start. His persona was that of an upper-class blue blood from Connecticut, whose real girlfriend, Chyna, was given the role of his bodyguard. This is when things started taking off for him.
He became friends with Kevin Nash and other wrestlers who helped him gain recognition and get him more bookings. He gained even more power in the industry when he broke up with Chyna and began dating and then marrying female wrestler Stephanie McMahon, the daughter of Vince McMahon. Having access to the McMahon family gave him more power in and outside the ring.
While he was gaining new accomplishments in the ring, he had his sights set on the day when he gave up wrestling and enjoyed life outside the ring.
Outside the Ring:
Even when his wrestling career was thriving, Paul Levesque was looking at the big picture and what he could do after he was ready to give up wrestling. He was having a great career winning significant matches, including:
- WWF Championship in 1999
- Five-time Intercontinental Championship
- Two-time tag team champion
- 14-time world championship
- Two-time Royal Rumble winner
- King of the Ring tournament winner
According to Ranker.com, some consider Triple H one of the best pro wrestlers ever. In addition to the accolades above, he was a headliner at numerous WWE pay-per-view events and closed the annual WrestleMania event seven times.
Paul Levesque Tries Acting:
In addition to his presence in the ring, Paul Levesque tried his hand at acting and has numerous credits to his name, including:
- Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery (2014)
- Scooby-Doo! And WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon (2016)
- The Chaperone (2011)
- Blade: Trinity (2004)
- Relative Strangers (2006)
- Surf’s Up 2: WaveMania (2016)
- Inside Out (2011)
What is His Role Today?
According to EssentiallySports.com, Triple H was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2019. He had some health problems during the last couple of years in the ring, but the last straw was in September 2021, when he underwent 15-hour-long surgery due to heart failure, leading him to retire in 2022. Since then, he has gone on to become WWE’s Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy and Development.
There is no stopping Triple H or Paul Levesque. He has made a name for himself in the wrestling industry whether he’s inside or outside the ring.
